Homemade Nutella Hamantashen: perfect healthy version of the popular Purim treat


Ingredients

For the homemade Nutella

  • 3 cups of hazelnuts
  • 1 cup of almond
  • 200g of dark chocolate (dairy free)

For the Hamantashen

  • 1/2 cup of nut oil (walnut, almond) or olive oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup of coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or almond extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1/4 cup
  • 1 cup of almond flour
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 of chocolate spread

Instructions

For the homemade Nutella

  1. Place the nuts in a food processor and process for 10-15 minutes (or more if needed) until having a smooth butter.
  2. Melt chocolate.
  3. Add the chocolate to the nuts bowl and mix for 2-3 minutes in the food processor.
  4. Set aside in a glass jar.
  5. Keep refrigerated for up to 1 month.

For the Hamantashen

  1. Mix together the egg, oil, sugar and extract.
  2. Add the 1 cup of flour and 1 cup of almond flour and salt and stir until a smooth dough is formed.
  3. Add spoons of flour if too moist.
  4. Cut circles using a cookie cutter or a glass cup.
  5. Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of the circles and pinch or fold to form a triangle.
  6. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
