ISRAELI STYLE SAVORY HAMANTASCHEN – Favorite Purim holiday treat but in savory!
Ingredients

- ½ cup nut oil (walnut, almond) or olive oil
- 2 flax eggs (2 tbsp flax meal + 3/4 cup water). Let sit for 10 min
- 2 tbsp coconut sugar
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (you can also mix whole wheat flour and regular flour)
- 1 cup of almond flour
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1½ cup tomato sauce, matbucha or any savory topping pureed. You can use the preparation for my shakshuka (recipe on my blog)
Instructions
- Mix together flax egg, oil, and sugar.
- Add 1 cup of flour and 1 cup of almond flour and salt and stir until a smooth dough is formed.
- Add spoons of flour if too moist.
- Cut circles using a cookie cutter or a glass cup.
- Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of the circles and pinch or fold to form a triangle.
- Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Keep un a jar or in the freezer. If too soft, reheat at 350F for a few minutes.
