Home favorites – Favorite buys for our new cosy home
After moving into a new home, I decided to share with you some of my favorite home essentials or new buys. In this post, I will mention my fav but will give alternatives more budget-friendly or space-efficient. I will update the post regularly with my new finds.

Kitchen
The kitchen is, for me, one of the most (if not the most) important room of the home. I like open kitchen concept as I think it’s very homy and nice to have a counter space where we can take breakfast.
Cooking set – It’s mandatory to have a good set of pan. (in my case I have more like three but this is for another story..) It makes the cooking easier. I like ceramic pan as I find them super easy to clean and to cook with.
Utensils – I like using wood spoons or metal for cooking. Try to avoid aluminum if possible. Although on saying that, I’ve heard that aluminum, (you can find some here at aluminiumwarehouse.co.uk) is meant to be quite good with items like spatulas and whisks. Apparently it has to do with something about their non-toxic nature. I decide to avoid it though to be on the safe side.
Glass set – glass is a must in my kitchen. I have all kind of glass pan. I use them all the time.
Porcelaine set – I like having some porcelaine pans as I think they present really nicely on a table and are easy to clean.
Cast iron – This is one of my favorite cooking tool to cook. It has been proven than the skillet release iron into your food. How cool is this?
Cake molds – I like using silicon BPA free mold otherwise I like the regular ones as long as they are good quality. A poor quality cake mold will probably end up ruining your cakes no matter how much you’ll grease the mold.
Knives sets – It’s very important to have a chef knife set. It’s a common misconception than it’s more dangerous to have very sharp knives than less sharp ones. It’s false because with “bad” knives you’ll put more strength and have a higher chance to slip.
Food processor & blenders – These are my favorite machines. I use them all the time (prob every day) Depending of what you want to use them for, some are better than others. Let me know if you have any questions!
Mixer – Having a stand mixer changed my life. it’s so practical to be able to leave the machine on while doing something else. However if space is a constraint for you, a hand mixer is great too.
Accessories – Very basic accessories from my kitchen. I’ll update the list if I think about other stuff.
Mixing bowls – I like glass mixing bowls as I think they clean very easily (and very practical for a kosher kitchen too!)
Coffee – We just got a coffee machine and my husband couldn’t be happier. It’s also a very cool accessories for your counter when the machine is pretty!
Kitchen organization – Living in small spaces, keeping the kitchen organized can be hard. I love to organize by categories as I think it’s easier to follow.
Food storage – I am a big fan of glass container. I think they are very pretty and also very practical. I label all my jars. I am also getting rid of plastic as much as possible so this is the best alternative.
Stools – Our kitchen is open with a counter space, so we have our breakfasts there most of the time and it’s a place we use a lot to chill. We got industrial looking stools that fit in most kitchen.
Dinning
I was dreaming of a very long table to be able to host lots of people. I finally found what I liked after lots of research and we couldn’t be happier. Our dinning room is very simple but I love the thin lines of it. We love the chandelier addition.
Kitchen linens – I went for a grey style with grey napkins holder. I have a wooden table so I like how it contrasts with the material.
Serving dishes – I have to set of serving dishes: wood and silver for one of my service, marble, ceramic and chalkboard for the other one.
Decorations – I think the simplest the better. I love having candle holder on my table.
Furniture – We got a very long with thin lines wooden table and grey upsoletry chair with wooden feet. We added this gold candelabra to add some warm to the room.
Living room
We went for a homy modern industrial style with concrete furnitures such as our coffee table and tv stand mixed with gold lamps, a dark grey sofa (we are planning to change it for a larger and lighter one), cream and gold cushions and enhanced with burgundy details. Another little tip-make sure you get the right cleaning devices for your new furniture; most hand-held vacuums do an excellent job of cleaning furniture.
Sound system – This is def my husband’s department more than mine in terms of quality of sound but I can talk design-wise. We also have a Geneva speaker that really adds a lot to our space. Our tv has its own sound system connected to it. My husband has been considering implementing Graham Slee HiFi equipment into his sound system after a friend won him around to the idea, pointing out how great his old records would sound with a quality preamp.
Accessories – I am a big fan of pillows and candles in living room. I think it makes the space more comfy and warm just by adding those details. I also love coffee table books because it’s an another way to customize and warm up the vibe.
Furniture – As I mentioned before, we went for furnitures in concrete as we like the style of it. To make it less plain and cold, we got lamps with gold fixtures, burgundy pillows and decorated with accessories and books.
Lamps – I love our new lamps from West Elm. I am literally obsessed with their collection this year because they have very pure lines with lots of gold details. Definitely one of my go-to brands!
Bedroom
I am so in love with our bedroom. Our bed is so comfortable thanks to our mattress from AmeriSleep, our great pillows and super soft sheets. We got a king size bed with velvet frame that makes the room feels so cosy. The color palette is very neutral with grey, beige and white. Our nightstands and dresser are in a golden tone with mirrors facets. We looked at loads of different options, as I really wanted to make sure this room was perfect for us. I even took my time looking at how to pick the right rug using a site that helps explain how to pick the right rug for our house (you can check out these luxury rugs for sale Made Simple: A Step-by-Step Guide here, to help you pick the right one for you if you’re interested). I think it was very helpful to take my time and look over everything, as I didn’t want to pick the wrong one after all.
Bedding – Having soft sheets and comfortable pillows are essential for a good sleep. I have a very sensitive skin and I am allergic to down so I went with down alternatives and hypoallergenic beddings.
Furniture – Love the neutral palette for the bedroom. It feels very peaceful to me!
