Homemade Nutella Hamantashen: perfect healthy version of the popular Purim treat
With Purim in a few days and the famous tradition to make and eat Hamantashen for the occasion, I had to give it a try!
I found so many interesting recipes but I was always disturbed but the oil/sugar quantity. I tried a first recipe and changed the quantities like I always do… and it was horrible! They opened in the baking process and were pretty ugly.. Then I tried vegan one with dates and nuts and wasn’t a success either.. The folding was not holding and they were breaking up under my hands.
Finally, I tried with almond flour because it doesn’t rise too much in the oven and I didn’t put any baking powder or yeast. And the result was great! They weren’t too sweet, not too soft and a bit crunchy. The best part is the mix of almond dough and the chocolate spread that tastes like Nutella… Yup, you read me well… NUTELLA! I share with you here my KILLER homemade Nutella recipe!
This is what they look like before baking. You basically fold them in triangle with one side under one side on top. The folding process is the longest part of this recipe and you better pinch well otherwise they might open in the oven…
And by the way… The rest of the chocolate spread can be used for breakfast as a spread or for snack…. it’s just so delicious!
Enjoy this recipe cautiously because when you’ll try it.. it’s addictive!
